Cookie Cutter Moon and Star Art {Tutorial}

If you follow this blog, you’ll know I’m not much of a baker. In the six years I’ve been doing tutorials, I’ve baked one thing: Baklawa Pops.

But I do love taking baking supplies out of the kitchen and re-purposing them.  Sometimes to use as gift bags or making candles.

Today we used our moon and star cookie cutters, previously used as walls for quilling, as paint brushes to create masterpieces.

Supplies

You’ll need to pick two contrasting colors and start by painting each one in completely solid on each canvas. Set aside to dry.

We found simple moon and star images online and enlarged them.  You can pick anything that matches your cookie cutter image and cut it out.

Add double sided tape to your paper cut outs.

Center the cut outs as best you can on the now (hopefully) dry canvas.  Add paint to your paper plate in the contrast color so you can dip your cookie cutter outline.

This is the fun part: start using the cookie cutter as a paintbrush and paint away.

Before you remove your center cut out, outline it with the smaller paint brush.

Now fill in your center made with the same contrast color of your cookie cutter paintbrush.
