Moon Phase Tracker {Tutorial} Guest Post

We are so honored to host a guest post for our Ramadan crafts 30-day challenge from Radiance of Delight.
Rumaisa is sharing how she made this phases of the moon tracker with her kids to help them keep track of the Ramadan moon and its’ daily changes. Please note that WordPress was reversring the Arabic in her post, so we had to remove it.
To celebrate our 11th annual Ramadan crafts 30-day challenge, we are hosting guest posts for most of the month, if you have a craft, resource, or recipe you’d like to share, please let us know.

Phases of the moon
From the Quran: And one [divine] sign for them is … the Moon for which He precisely scaled the light-struck stages until the moon returns to [looking] like an old, withered palm-branch. (Quran 36.39)
Ramadan is here. So, we are trying to make this Ramadan special with some arts and crafts Alhamdulillah. This helps us in bringing that enthusiasm, especially in lockdown.
Moon plays special role in Islamic celebrations. So, we thought to make this simple and easy craft to help us keep track on the phases of the moon.
Material required:
- Empty cereal box
- Colored markers
- Fasteners to tug pointer.
- Pencil
Procedure:
For this super cute and easy craft, we started with an empty box. We are using back of empty cereal box because it gives our craft firm support along with durability.

Now draw 8 small circles using pencil to avoid any mistakes and this will help you in balancing moon positions as well. Once you are done with this phase, now use some permanent marker to make all 8 moon phases.

Let’s start filling your moons from New Moon.

I’m making it bilingual to help kids learn Arabic terms side by side inshaAllah.
- New Moon
- Waxing Crescent
- Half Moon
- Waxing Gibbous
- Full Moon
- Waning Gibbous
- Half Moon
- Waning Crescent

Now, make one pointer from remaining small pieces of your cereal box and we colored it red to help you kids to help them keep track of their moon. Here you will need fastener to fasten it inside the cereal box inshaAllah.

I have prepared some Free printable for Muslim kids to take benefit from. Our most favorite “Diversity in Islam” is translated into 5 different languages so far as well Alhamdulillah. Feel Free to download your copy today InshaAllah,
