Bahrain (Arabic: البحرين), officially the Kingdom of Bahrain (Arabic: مملكة البحرين) is a small island country situated near the western shores of the Persian Gulf and one of the 21 members of the Arab League.
The national flag of Bahrain consists of a white band on the left, separated from a red area on the right by 5 triangles that serve as a serrated line.
We had a little fun this afternoon painting those 5 triangles on canvas while talking about this small country.
Lined cutting mat
Tomato paste tin can
Blue painters tape
Bright red fabric paint
White fabric paint
Canvas fabric (1/2 inch taller and 1 inch wider then the can)
Iron (not pictured)
Towel for ironing (not pictured)
Paint the entire canvas white. Let it dry in a sunny spot or overnight.
Lay out the blue painters tape evenly on the cutting mat and use the ruler and xacto to make 5 triangles like the ones below.
Place the blue triangles over the white painted canvas and paint the other side bright red.
Let your paint dry and flip your canvas over. Iron the edges down so that the canvas fits better over the edges of your tin can.
Place fabric glue all over the can, using a finger to spread it out, making sure to get into the crevasses of the can ridges.
Tightly wrap the fabric over the can, adding a little more on the end, lengthwise.
Fold over the edge and hold it down for a few minutes until your fabric sticks.
Pick up all the crayons all over the house and put then in your new holder!
