Salam/Peace Dove Hair Clip {Tutorial}

Salam or salaam is Arabic for peace. t is used in the Islamic greeting, as-salāmu ʿalaykum, which means peace be upon you.
For today’s craft tutorial, we thought we’d make a salam dove, or peace dove, hair clip to carry a little peace around with us.
Supplies
- Felt
- Scissors
- Needle/tread
- Paper
- Silver fabric paint
- Hair clip

I used paper to draw out a little peace dove for my daughter so she can redraw it larger.

Once the dove was redrawn, the template was placed on the white felt.

Then my daughter cut out the same shape in the felt.

She then cut out the wing inside the paper dove and used that to cut out the same piece from the blue felt.

She then added a few stitches to secure the hair clip to the back of the bird.

She flipped the bird around and added a wing to cover the hair clip stitch and also stitched a few lines for the dove’s eye. Lastly, she decorated the wing with silver puff paint.

That was it, the salam dove is now done and ready for her hair. That took no time at all!
Peace be with you!
