Arabic Mother’s Day Crown {Tutorial}

My daughter created this adorable flower crown from pipe cleaner for Arab Mother’s Day that also spells the Arabic word for mama, ما ما.

Mother’s day will be celebrated in the Arab world on March 21st, 2021 by 19 countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

In the past, we had a little fun showing you how we made a flower card with only a few supplies. In keeping with making simple crafts, this tutorial only uses a few supplies.

If you have such a craft or activity that you’d like to share with others that teaches about the Arab world or Muslim culture, make sure you check out our Ramadan challenge and write a guest post for this blog!

Supplies

My daughter used a 2 oz paint bottle to create a round shape. Before the shape is made, she bent the end about a half inch to create a hook. This helps attached the pipe cleaner once it goes around the bottle.

My daughter closed off the circle by twisting the two pieces twice around each other.

My daughter slipped the pipe cleaner off the bottle and bent it almost halfway down. Make sure the end is a little longer to attach to the next pipe cleaner.

Now is the time to get creative with the beads. Add a few to hold the folded pipe cleaner together. Next bend the end at the bottom.

Make a second shape and attach them together. Make sure to tuck any stray wires so they do not stick out.

It took 10 pipe cleaners total to go around. You may need more or less if you are making this for a child’s head or an adult.

Once done, the crown now looked like a continuous line of ما ما ما ما ما ما ما ما

My daughter had some left over flower pieces from a broken lei to add for a little extra spring fun.
